Structural Outline and Scheme of Examination

B.A. - I, II & III
a) COMPULSORY SUBJECTS:
English 1 Paper 100 Marks 1 Credit
* Punjabi(C) 2 Paper 50+50=100 Marks 1 Credit
* Punjabi is compulsory for Punjab domicile only whereas other students can opt History & Culture of Punjab in lieu of Punjabi.
History & Culture of Punjab 1 Paper 50 Marks 1 Credit
** Environmental Education 1 Paper 50 Marks 0 Credit
b) ELECTIVE SUBJECTS:
Any three elective subjects of 2 credits each in all selecting not more than one subject from any of the following sets of combinations:

1) English/Punjabi/Hindi 2 Papers 100+100=200 Marks 2 Credits
2) Economics 2 Papers 100+100=200 Marks 2 Credits
3) History/Mathematics 2 Papers 100+100=200 Marks 2 Credits
4) Public Administration 2 Papers 100+100=200 Marks 2 Credits
5) Political Science, 2 Papers 100+100=200 Marks 2 Credits
    Comp. Sc./Comp. Applications 2 Papers+1 Pr. 75+75+50=200Marks 2 Credits
6) Physical Education, 2T Papers+1Pr. 50+50+100=200Mark 2 Credits
    Psychology 2T Papers+1Pr. 75+75+50=200Marks 2 Credits
c) ADDITIONAL OPTIONAL SUBJECT:
***1) Introduction to Computer Science 1T Paper+ 1Pr. 75+25=100 Marks 0 Credit
2) Certificate/Diploma/Advanced Diploma Course 0 Credit
    in Computer Application
** Compulsory for all students, may pass in any class i.e. Part I,II or III.
*** Only qualifying optional subject, the students opting Computer Science and Computer Applications as elective subjects are not eligble for this course.
NOTE:
  1. The combination of elective subjects shall be the same in Part-II and Part-III as opted by the candidates in B.A. first year.
  2. The following can take 'History & Culture of Punjab' in lieu of Punjabi Compulsory paper :
    • Foreigners and the students from the other Indian states and Union Territories other than Punjab-Chandigarh (including children/wards of defence personnel, Government and semi-Government employees) whose Mother Tongue is not Punjabi.
    • The children/wards of Defence personnel, Government and semi-Government employees whose Mother Tongue is Punjabi but who stayed outside Punjab for at least 10 years immediately before the admission and they had not taken up the subject of Punjabi in lower examinations.
