G.H.G. Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar observed “World No Tobacco Day” as per the directions of Asst. Director, Department of Youth Welfare Services, Ludhiana. World No Tobacco is observed every year on 31st May, to raise awareness on harmful and deadly effects of tobacco and discourage its use in any form. This year the theme of World No Tobacco Day 2022 is “Tobacco: Threat to our Environment”. In order to observe the day, N.S.S Wing and Red Ribbon Club of the College organized a special lecture and poster making competition on the theme “Say No to Tobacco”. In the awareness lecture, Mr. Rahul, Ms. Simranpreet Kaur and Mr. Kulwinder Singh from CHC Sadhar appraised the students about the harmful effects of smoking and other tobacco products. They further said that there is a dire need to make the society aware about this deadly product. They urged the students to make the people in their vicinity aware about the noxious effects of Tobacco use. A community campaign was also held to mark the day where students of B.Ed. and M.Ed. educated the people in their surrounding areas regarding the ill effects of tobacco and the ways to get rid of its use.  Dr. H.S Brar, Former Principal of the College was present on the occasion along with the faculty members and the students. Dr. Jagjit Singh, Asst. Prof. in the college extended vote of thanks at the end of the lecture.
In the poster making competition, Sumandip Kaur and Shefali Mehra were awarded with the first prize while Ramanpreet Kaur and Ramandeep Kaur secured the second position. Manjot Kaur and Kiranjit Kaur got third position in the competition. Dr, Pargat Singh Garcha, Principal of the College appreciated the efforts of NSS Wing and Red Ribbon Club for observing the day. He also congratulated the Coordinators Dr. Manu Chadha, Dr. Jasleen Kaur and Dr. Rachhpal Singh for organizing the various events dedicated to World No Tobacco Day.
