G.H.G. Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar has the benign blessings of Guru Hargobind Sahib, who spent significant moments of his life here. This place, where now we have the magnificent edifice housing the colleges, was in about 1920, a waste stretch of land. But with the Almighty's blessings in 1921, Nihang Shamsher Singh Ji, a great devotee of Guru Sahib, had a visionary dream and established a 'Gurmukhi Pathshala' which he used to call 'a college'. Miraculously, Nihang Ji's blessing worked wonders and in 1948, Guru Hargobind Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar came into existence as a degree college and in 1955, College of Education was started. The purpose behind its establishment was to cater the demand of higher education of rural students. The college motto 'Simple Living and High Thinking' clearly reflects it.

To ensure student's participation in decision making student's welfare council is formed from amongst the college students, it provides a platform for the students to discuss the educational, co-curricular and student welfare activities and share these with the Principal, Dean and Staff.
All the students are divided into a number of groups with a teacher as a tutor for each. This provides an opportunity for the teacher taught close and personal contact. The tutor is expected to know the personal history of his/her wards thoroughly. He should also keep watch on the physical and intellectual welfare of his wards.

The students of the college are provided with the facility to bus passes at concessional rates. For this, the students have to prescribed form and get it attested from the tutor. Photographs are required for the bus pass. Passes are issue PEPSU Road Transport Corporation and Punjab Roadways.
INFLIBNET's N-LIST programme enables the library clientele to have access to more than 6000 e-journals and nearly 100000 e-books. This college is a member of British Council Library that enables us to have a wider access to the knowledge.
The needy and meritorious students are issued books from the book bank for the entire academic session on the recommendation of the tutor and with the permission of the Principal.
On the recommendation of the tutor and with the permission of the Principal, regular students of the college can become the members of this library by filling the prescribed form. For this they will have to adhere to the university regulations. The members of this library will be issued university roll numbers at the end of the year, after they clear all the library dues.
Library brings academic ambience in the educational institutions. Library "The Reservoir of Knowledge" has a paradigm shift from document to information. The library building and material inside it, no longer define the concept of academic library in the present scenario. Library is a living organism consisting of library documents, staff, and Premises organized and functioning to collect, conserve and exploit books.
Safety and security of students especially girls is our top-most priority. Keeping this in mind, a fleet of buses is made available for girl students. The facility is available to a student for a minimum period of one year and the fee is payable on half yearly basis.

At present the National Cadet Corps is being run in our college. Cadets are trained for parade and various certification examinations. Cadets are also sent to various camps for physical training, weapon training, rock climbing, trekking, river rafting and paragliding etc.

An awareness program on 'Small Savings' was organized at GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar by the departments of Political Science and Economics with the aim to instill the habit of savings among children and the students. Prof. Vishavpreet Kaur, HOD of Political Science, laid stress on the value of savings. She said that the children should learn to save money and the importance of living within their means. The banners were also displayed by the students to inspire them. Colorful piggy banks with a complimentary amount were distributed among the small children to start their small savings. Prof. Jaswant Singh Goraya, Principal, motivated the children to save a penny every day and help the needy. He also appreciated the efforts of the staff for their initiatives to make the society better. The occasion was also graced by Dr. Rajinder Singh, Dr. S.K. The annual alumni meet of Guru Hargobind Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar (Ludhiana), a reputed educational institution of Malwa region was organised at college campus. Due to the epidemic of covid-19, this time, of course, the alumni of the college living abroad were unable to attend the college, but they sent their expressions in the form of recordings to make their presence felt. The meeting began with a resolution praying for the spiritual peace of the farmers who had sacrificed their precious lives in the peasant movement. Alumni Association President Dr. Swaranjit Singh Deol formally welcomed the alumni members. Mr. Manjit Singh Khatra, former Principal of the College, who has been associated with the College for a long time, urged all to contribute for the development of the College and also expressed his concern over the problems of the farmers. The association was graced by Constituency MLA Shri. Jagtar Singh Jagga, Col. Eminent speaker Dr. Kuldeep Kaur Pahwa, Head, Punjabi Department from Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa college, University of Delhi presented the biography of Guru Sahib with reference to ancient texts like Guru Bilas Patshahi Chhevi, Bachitra Natak and Shri Guru Shobha. Referring to the Bani and life of Guru Sahib, she described the life of Guru Sahib as a wonderful treasure. Principal Prof. Jaswant Singh welcomed all the participants. The webinar was moderated by Dr. Sohan Singh. At the end of webinar Dr Gurmeet Singh Hundal thanked the resource person and all the participants. Dheean di Lohri was celebrated at GHG Khalsa College with great zeal & zest. Principal Jaswant Singh Goraya lit up the 'Lohri' bonfire and greeted the staff on the occasion of Maghi & Lohri. While addressing, children and staff members, he stressed that giving due respect to girls was very important. He also envisioned that such events are instrumental in eradicating the social evils like female foeticide so that there was balance between society and nature. SUO Shivansh Kamboj, B.A 2nd year NCC cadet of G.H.G Khalsa College Gurusar Sadhar has attended Indian Military Academy Camp (IMA) from 15 th Dec, 2020 to 8 th Jan 2021, One of prestigious Officer-Training academy of Indian army in Dehradun, representing 3Punjab BN NCC Ludhiana. Besides this, four NCC cadets of the college namely Shivansh Kamboj, Jasnoor Singh, Abhishek Singh and Suraj kumar also participated in Republic day Parade in Ludhiana. Prof. Jaswant Singh, Principal, congratulated the NCC Cadets and Dr. Arun Kumar NCC in-charge for this achievement. Reputed Educational Institutions of GHG Khalsa Colleges, Gurusar Sadhar (Degree College, College of Education and Pharmacy College) have successfully implemented the online Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver the study content to the students. This system will be accessible to every student enrolled in the college. The students can read, watch and listen to the content online whenever they want. The content related to the subject has been made available on this system in audio-visual and written forms by the college professors. It will also access the students' attendance, tests, assignments, etc. The College Governing Council President, S. Manjit Singh Gill and Secretary Dr. S.S. Thind congratulated the computer department and the entire staff of the college for making the educational materials available on this system in a very short span of time. He said that by developing and implementing such system, all the staff of the three colleges have shown their high level of academics. An awareness drive on COVID-19 for the supporting staff was organized by the COVID-19 Committee of G.H.G. Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar. The lecture was aimed at educating the participants about the nature of the disease and the ways to prevent the infection. Prof Shikha Jain talked at length about the precautionary measures to be taken in order to stay protected from the disease, the various do's and dont's when it comes to maintaining personal hygiene especially hand hygiene and the ways to practice social distancing. She also shared the methods to prepare natural sanitizers at home with neem, basil and aloe vera leaves. They were also advised to avoid spreading wrong pieces of information and rumours about the pandemic. Prof Anjana Kunari on the occasion spoke on the importance of keeping personal hygiene for the safety of oneself and the family. She shared that the health and hygiene of the individual and the family are interlinked. Prof Gurpreet Kaur and Prof Tejinderpal Singh distributed the masks and sanitizers among the supporting staff and advised them to use these items as safety devices.
As India was all set to celebrate the 74th Independence Day, the national flag raising ceremony took place on 15th August in the college campus. The flag was hoisted by Principal Prof. Jaswant Singh Goraya. The unfurling of the flag was given a salute by the NCC cadets. There after Principal Prof. J.S. Manjit Singh Gill and Dr. S.S. Thind. The webinar was aimed to raise awareness about potential Stressors triggered during the Pandemic and also provide tools and strategies to the people to cope with anxiety, motivational issues, depression and other potential stressors, which ultimately protect the health of the people under the current pandemic of covid-19. GHG Khalsa Colleges, Gurusar Sadhar, organized a one week online national faculty development programme (FDP) on the theme 'Integrating Technology in Classroom Teaching and Learning' under the motivation and guidance of Chief Patron S. Manjit Singh Gill and convenor Dr. S.S. Thind. The FDP aimed to provide the knowledge and skills needed by the teachers to cater to the present day teachers and their learning styles. In this FDP, nationwide renowned resource persons, principals and faculty members participated and shared their knowledge on ICT tools and techniques. The FDP was inaugurated by Principal Prof. Jaswant Singh, Degree College, Principal Dr. Pargat Singh, Education College, and Principal Dr. Satwinder Kaur, Pharmacy College. The key address was delivered by Dr. Pargat Singh while the theme of the FDP was elaborated by Dr. Mandeep Kaur Kochar, Vice Principal, Bombay Teachers Training College, Mumbai. The resource persons gave hands-on training on latest tools like Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Forms, Google Certificates, Canva, Active Presenter, Podcasts, Kahoot, Mind Maps, Zoom, Moodle, Testmoz and Google Classroom. The rowers of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, won six medals in different event categories at the recently concluded Panjab University Intercollege Rowing Championship held at Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh. Gurbani Kaur, bagged two gold and two silver medals, respectively, in 500m & 2000m single scull (light and heavy weight) categories. In the men's category, Gulshan of B.P.Ed. grabbed two golds in 200m single scull heavy and light weight events while also securing a bronze in 500m single scull event. The medal winning rowers of the college, Gurbani and Gulshan, also got selected as representatives of Panjab University, Chandigarh, rowing squad for All India Inter-University Rowing Championship to be held at Sukhna lake, Chandigarh, by the end of the month. The college rowers and their team incharge Dr. Baljinder Singh were congratulated by Dr. Parminder Singh Ahluwalia, Director of Physical Education & Sports, P.U. Chandigarh.
The Department of Mathematics at GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, held a lecture on 'Interactions with PI'. Dr. Surinderpal Singh Kainth was the resource person from Panjab University, Chandigarh. He talked about the history, present status and future scope of work on the concept of pi. He, also, discussed about the applications of pi in different fields beyond the field of mathematics. The students were motivated to enhance their research aptitude. The lecture was attended by the undergraduate and post-graduate students of sciences under the supervision of Prof. Parveen Ansari (HOD) and other staff members.
A field trip to Panjab Agricultural University and Harisar Industries, Ludhiana, was organized for the students of B.Sc. (Medical) by the Biological Society of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, under the supervision of Prof. Gurpreet Kaur Deol and Prof. Harpreet Kaur Khurana. Dr. Jaspal Singh, Entomologist at PAU, Ludhiana, provided practical exposure to the students about different species of honey bees, diseases of bees, equipment used for beekeeping, processing, storage and sterilization of honey. He, also, gave indepth knowledge about the various training programmes being organized by PAU and motivated the students to adopt apiary as a profession. At Harisar Industries, the students learned about the different methods of wood seasoning and different stages of conversion of wooden logs into plywood. Dr. Inderjit Singh Sohal, Director HIC, emphasized that an industrial visit plays a significant role in imparting practical knowledge to the students.
An academic visit to school of Animal Biotechnology, GADVASU was organized by the Department of Biotechnology for B.Sc. biotechnology students. Dr. Deepak Deka of Molecular Diagnostics and Vaccinology elaborated on the technique of PCR and shared very important and valid practical points. Mr. Barinder Singh, an alumnus of our department pursuing his Ph.D. there demonstrated the PCR technique at length to the students and arranged for hands-on training for the students which made them understand the concept exhaustively. Mr. Sarabjot Singh also an alumnus of our department showed A2, B2 Laminar Air Flow, Bio safety cabinet and working of simple, inverted and flouorscent microscope. Dr. Deka demonstrated the technique of Western Blotting and PAGE in a comprehensive manner. He also focused on minute detailing of setting up an experiment and shared the aims of the DBT funded projects running presently in his lab. The various projects aim at molecular characterization and developing vaccines for the various disease-causing viruses. He was courteous enough to take students' queries. He made the students tour his lab and get familiar with the working of other highly sophisticated instruments. A visit to the Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture, PAU was also paid. Dr. Bharathi Mahindru, Assistant Entomologist showed around Iher cell culture and Molecular Biology Lab where the study of the functions of various genes in insects is being carried out through molecular biology techniques. She demonstrated the working of Nano Drop Spectrophotometer, Gel Documentation System, Tissue Homogenizer, Microinjection Assembly and Cryostorage set up (-800 C). She elaborated on the cloning procedure, blue-white screening method and post- cloning confirmation steps. An another visit to the department of Agriculture Biotechnology was also carried out. Dr. Pawan Kumar Malhotra, Assistant Biotechnologist showed around the various Plant Tissue Culture Labs consisting of working room, Media preparation room, inoculation and incubation room. He also made the students tour around the glass houses and showed various plants growing under controlled conditions. It was a great learning experience for the students.
A Departmental PowerPoint presentation competition was organized by the Department of Biotechnology. In this competition seven students participated and presented on a variety of science topics such as Animal Behavior, Drug Approval, Biochemistry of Sleep and Dreams, Novel Drug Delivery Methods, Artificial Intelligence, Metabolic Disorders and Recycling. This presentation competition was organized to encourage creativity among students and offer them a platform to showcase their skills. The judges on the occasion were Prof Hardeep Kaur, Prof Jasdeep Kaur and Prof Amritvijay Kaur. The artistic endeavor of the students was highly praised by the faculty members. The first prize was bagged by Souyma chauhan (2nd sem) whereas Simranjeet Kaur (6th sem) and Tanvir Kaur (4th sem) won the second prize. The third prize was secured by Karamdeep Kaur (2nd sem) and Tanveer Singh (2nd sem). The consolation prizes were won by Nisha (4th sem) and Noorpreet Singh (2nd sem). Prof Shikha Jain announced the winners and congratulated them. Principal Prof Jaswant Singh praised the students and motivated them to take part in such competitions in future too.
A One-Day State-Level Seminar on "Rights of Women & Divyangjan" was organized by GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar as part of the celebration of Women's Day. The event was a collaborative effort of the Women Cell and Equal Opportunities Cell for the disabled persons. Principal Prof. Jaswant Singh formally welcomed the speakers Dr. Mona Goel, Assistant Professor, GNDU Regional Campus, Jalandhar & Dr. Manjyot Kaur, Assistant Professor, GHG Institute of Law, Sidhwan Khurd. Dr. Mona Goel sensitized the audience to the neglect and double discrimination faced by the disabled women at the hands of the society. She exhorted the Government to take necessary steps to instill a sense of confidence and self-esteem among the differently abled women. Dr. Manjyot Kaur while speaking on the occasion generated awareness among the girl students about the various articles of the constitution and various laws enforced by the Government for the protection of women. A vote of Thanks was presented by Prof. Harcharan Kaur and Dr. Baljit Singh. The stage was conducted by Prof. Shikha Jain and Dr. Paramjit Kaur. At the end Principal Prof. Jaswant Singh appreciated efforts of the members of women cell Prof. Harcharan Kaur, Prof. Shikha Jain, Dr. Paramjit Kaur, Prof. Anjana Kumari and Dr. Sonia Ahuja. He also motivated the girl students to draw the inspiration from the eminent women speakers.
The workshop was on anxiety and stress in sports persons at novice to elite level. He enlightened on various strategies to enhance performance with the help of psycho-regulation, self-talk, imagery and other mental exercises. These exercises help in reducing stress and competition anxiety which in return is helpful in achieving in competitive sports situations. Dr. Agyajit Singh also gave a mental exercise session to some players. The session was an interactive one. This workshop was a collaborative effort by Dept. of Psychology and Physical education. Prof. Tejinder Singh and Dr. Paramjit Kaur thanked the students, staff members and students of physical education. Principal Prof. Jaswant Singh appreciated the efforts of both the departments.
The training programme cum workshop by Barclays' under 'Connect with Work' CSR initiative concluded at GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar. Principal Prof. Jaswant Singh lauded Ms. Karishma Arora, a freelance educational trainer, and Ms. Eisha Sharma, a professional skills trainer, for their unrelenting commitment during the programme towards upliftment of the skills of the participants to match the global recruitment scenario. The trainers practically exposed the students to techniques of effective public speaking, negotiation, e-mail etiquettes, telephonic conversations, personal interview and formal appearance. The well chalked out sessions by the trainers brought about a real time transformation in the participants by tackling their inhibitions and targeting on their latent personality traits. In the valedictory session, after the presentation of the programme report by Prof. Namrita Singh Ahluwalia, the trainers were felicitated. In the end, a vote of thanks was given by Dr. Anubhuti Modgil, Convenor. The stage was conducted by Prof. Aarti Sharma. The CV Raman Society of G.H.G. Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, in association with P.G. Department of Physics organized an extension lecture on 'Nano-sciences & Nano-technology' as a mark of celebration on the National Science Day. Dr. Kiranjeet, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, PAU, was the resource person on this occasion. The speaker was given a warm welcome by Prof. Jaswant Singh, Principal, and Dr. Inderjeet Singh, HOD. The resource person in her address, explored the application of carbon nanotubes in the fields of agriculture, textile industries, electronic devices, medical field, automobile industry and also, in daily life. The winners of a quiz competition, also conducted on this occasion were awarded prizes. The winner were Akashdeep, Shubham, Narinder and Riya. The topics that will be covered in this workshop are Organisational Structure, Public Speaking, Presentation Skills, E-mail Etiquette, Grooming, Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
As a mark of tribute and to commemorate the memory of S. Bakhtawar Singh Gill, Former President, College Governing Council, GHG Khalsa Colleges, Gurusar Sadhar, organized an Inter-College Gurbani Gayan Competition. The programme began after the Bhog of Akhand Path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The function was organized and celebrated collectively with religious fervour by all the institutions working under the Management- G.H.G. Khalsa Degree College, College of Education and College of Pharmacy. On this occasion, a Free Medical Check-up Camp and a Blood Donation Camp were organized with a team of doctors from DMC Hospital, Ludhiana, and Civil Hospital, Malerkotla, respectively. The Camps were inaugurated by Sardarni Mohinder Kaur Gill, S. Manjit S. Gill, President and Mrs. Hareena Gill. S. Jaswant Singh, Principal, Degree College, while throwing light on the occasion told that many teams from different colleges participated in this event with great enthusiasm. 53 units of blood were donated voluntarily and nearly 353 patients underwent medical check-up with specialists in Orthopaedics, Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Gastroenterology and De-addiction from DMC Hospital, Ludhiana. The Camps attracted a number of local residents as well. The patients were given medicines free of cost. The Guest of Honour, S. Satinder Pal Singh Sidhwan, in his address said that the visionary S. Bakhtawar Singh Gill took the initiative of providing education in this region during the times when there was prevalence of female foeticide and education was the domain of men. He appreciated the classical gurbani presentation by the youngsters. In the group category of the Gurbani Gayan competition, GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, achieved the first position while Khalsa College, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, stood second and Gobind National College, Narangwal, stood third. In the individual category, Gursimran Kaur of Khalsa College, Ludhiana, Chetna of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, and Manjot Singh, Gobind National College, Narangwal, stood first, second, and third, respectively. The panel of Judges who gave judgement on the occasion included S. Gobinder Singh Alampuri, S. Sahibjit Singh and S. Rajinder Singh. The winners were felicitated and honoured with trophies and cash prizes. An exhibition of books was also organized by Gurmat Pustak Centre on the occasion. Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle and N.S.S Units of the college made a special contribution towards making this event successful. In the end, a vote of thanks was given by Dr. S. S. Deol, Former Principal, who thanked and remembered the founder of this institution for his exemplary vision which provided an education base for numerous students of this region. The P.G. Department of Commerce & Management at GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, organized a placement drive for the final year students of BBA, B.Com & M.Com in association with ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Limited. Mranal Sharma, Human Resource Manager at ICICI Prudential, was given a warm welcome by Prof. Jaswant Singh, Principal, Prof. Tejinder Pal Singh, HOD, and Dr. Anubhuti Modgil. The company offered jobs in three profiles bank insurance, agency and direct marketing. After conducting a group discussion, ten students were shortlisted for the personal interview round. Of these five students, Ishita, Kamalpreet, Anshu, Loveneet and Manav were finally offered the job letters. The selected candidates were congratulated by the college management. On 27th February 2020, our faculty Members alongwith Principal Prof. Jaswant Singh Goraya participated in Revised Accreditation Frame Work Workshop under UGC PARAMARSH SCHEME at GHG Khalsa College of Education. S.P. Malhotra from Kurukshetra University (NAAC Expert) delivered their valuable lecture on Different Criteria's of Self-Study Report. In the second session, participants discussed their queries with the resource person.
The Biology Society of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, organized an extension lecture on 'Local environmental issues and community participation'. Dr. Charan Kumar, Associate Professor, A.S. College Khanna, as the guest speaker was welcomed and introduced by Prof. Gurpreet Kaur Deol, HOD. Dr. Charan in his address discussed in detail various environmental issues like solid waste, biodiversity, excessive use of pesticides, deforestation, and their impact on human health. He inspired the students by showing his self-designed low cost hydroponic unit and encouraged them to start their own kitchen garden using organic manure. He practically demonstrated methods for indoor seed germination and growing of healthy plants using a nutrient solution prepared from vermicompost. Principal Prof. Jaswant Singh presented the vote of thanks and congratulated the department of zoology for organizing the event. The Department of Food Processing and Quality Management at GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, organized a Seminar on 'Advancements in the field of Food Technology'. A College Development Council (CDC) sponsored National level Seminar on 'Financial Inclusion for inclusive growth: Opportunities & Challenges' was organized by P.G. Department of Commerce & Management at G.H.G. Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, under the guidance of S. Manjit Singh Gill, President & Chief Patron. Dr. Karamjit Singh, Registrar PU, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Dean Research CTU, as the key note speaker, were given a foral welcome by Principal Prof. Jaswant Singh ( Patron), Dr. H.S. Brar and Prof. Tejinder Pal Singh (Convenor). The theme of the seminar was introduced by Dr. Anubhuti Modgil, Co-convenor. In their addresses, the Chief Guest and the key note speaker pointed out the lack of financial literary, inequality, policy and regulatory hurdles as challenges for financial inclusion. Various papers were presented in two sessions chaired by Dr. R.K. Mittal, Kurukshetra University, and Dr. Bimal Anjum, DAV College Chandigarh, in which financial inclusion from the perspective of demonetization, women empowerment, digitalization and fintech were discussed. The Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle Unit of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, organized a seminar on the 'Contemporary relevance of the philosophies of Guru Gobind Singh Ji'. Dr. Bhim Inder Singh, Head Department of Punjabi Literary Studies & In-charge Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Chair, Punjabi University, Patiala, was the guest speaker. He was given a warm welcome by Prof. Jaswant Singh, Principal, and Dr. Sohan Singh, Unit in-charge. In his powerful address, Dr. Bhim Inder Singh drew parallels between of ideologies of Guru Gobind Singh Ji & the depth behind the philosophies of Karl Marx. From scientific socialism to a vision of society upholding equality and the ultimate effect on climate change due to capitalism in today's world, were thought provokingly linked by Dr. Bhim Inder.S. Manjit Singh Gill, President College Governing Council, added that any education is considered successful only if it lays emphasis on honesty, integrity, ethical and moral values at its core. Akashdeep Singh, a B.Sc. student of the college, was declared winner of the Moral Test 2020 conducted earlier.
